More quality work space in the E-School
There seems to be a limited amount of quality work space in the E-School. Thornton Stacks and Rice lobby/rooms are often filled at peak hours, and the other buildings don't seem to be much better. Also half of the electrical outlets in the Rice lobby are duds. Could we get some of those fixed and open more space for students to work? Rice especially seems to have a large number of restricted rooms that, if opened, could help alleviate the problem.
I agree. It's hard to find a really quiet place to work. Stacks and the Rice lobby are usually noisy.
For sure. The rooms in Rice tend to be occupied by graduate students doing research, or sometimes have seminars being taught in them. That's fine and all, but it's extremely difficult to find working space for computing majors. This shouldn't be the case, given the team-based nature of a lot of coding projects that come in the higher level courses.
