Better Internet in Clark

This is literally the second time this semester that I have had to leave Clark Library because my computer cannot use the internet, presumably because there are SO MANY PEOPLE on the internet already. Both cavalier and wahoo did not work at all. I hope this is an issue that ITC can address to better meet the needs of students.

Sorry to hear you're having problems with the network in Clark. Unfortunately, while you're correct that heavy usage in a crowded area can cause slowdowns, posting your complaint here isn't the best way to get your issue looked into.

Anytime you have an issue with the Internet at UVa, the best course of action is to contact the UVa Help Desk (via phone, chat, email, or web form at http://its.virginia.edu/helpdesk/) and make a formal report so we can capture the info needed to fix the problem. The Help Desk can look things up in the logs minute-by-minute to determine if coverage in your location is currently bad, and can run checks to tell you if your computer is having a compatibility issue that could be fixed by updating. We can even send folks out to investigate in person if need be. But in short, without specifics documented in real time, it's hard to do anything to help.

So next time this happens, please report the issue right away so we have some specifics and we can try to fix it for you!
