Introduce van service on McCormick Road
Since the busses can no longer cross the bridge on McCormick, there should be van service that runs from Ohill to the Chapel from 8 AM to 5 PM Monday to Friday during the 10-15 minutes between class blocks.
Update (3.11.13)
Plans have been made to replace the bridge using VDOT funding the week after graduation. Busses should be completely back to normal before next semester. Below is Sam Atkelson’s response from UTS— “The only thing that would be capable of going over the bridge would be a 15 person shuttle, which doesn’t do much to help the thousands of students crossing grounds during class changes.” Sorry for the inconvenience!

I’ve spoken with Bill Metzger at UTS. Unfortunately, this is not something that UTS would be able to provide, as none of their vehicles weigh less than the bridge’s current weight limit. The only thing that would be capable of going over the bridge would be a 15 person shuttle, which doesn’t do much to help the thousands of students crossing grounds during class changes. I’ll continue to look into this issue and see if there are other, more feasible, changes that might help!
We are hosting a panel on construction TONIGHT (11/28/12) in Clark 107 at 7pm. Updates on repairs to McCromick Bridge, a fairly hot topic on SpeakUpUVA, will be the first to be covered. Seven panelists from the Office of the Architect, Facilities Management, and Housing will be in attendance to speak about major projects going on around grounds. Panelists will present for 5-7 minutes and a question/answer period will follow, where you will be able to ask anything you’d like about projects you are concerned about. If you are unable to attend, we have invited the Cav Daily to cover it as well. We hope to see you there!

Hi,
We understand the inconvenience of the new bus routes. Student Council will look into this.

Thanks for this idea! I've contacted Building & Grounds and will be looking into possible services in order to make the current construction on McCormick less of a hassle for bus commuters.
